Worldflight – The Virtual Flight for Charity

WorldFlight Australia is a virtual round the world flight that has raised over $200,000 for The Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Worldflight is an annual event which takes place all around the globe in November. Flight simulator teams meet online to fly their simulators on a predetermined route around the world in real time. Starting in Sydney, the teams depart under direction of Air Traffic Controllers from the Vatsim organization who monitor and control all of the flights. The journey is usually 45 legs and rotating crews give up their own time to man the simulators 24/7 to participate in the event. Teams from overseas collect donations for their own respective charities but here in Australia it’s all about our flying doctors! The event is also open to individual flight simulator enthusiasts and many join the official teams in support and they are also encouraged to make donations.
